Rumor Mill: March 4 Pokemon Black and White Launch Date for Europe

Pokemon Black and White, the new pair of games for the Nintendo DS for the long-running franchise, have already arrived on the Japanese market and have made quite a splash and Nintendo has already announced that the two titles are set to arrive in North America on March 6, but the company has not offered any official date for those players who reside in Europe.


But sources that are working in the French offices of Nintendo have told Gamekyo that the company is just now getting ready for a Europe wide announcement with the new Pokemon video games set to arrive on March 4, which is two full days before the United States.

It's not clear why Nintendo would choose to put the game out in Europe earlier, especially considering the fact that Pokemon is not as loved here as it is in North America.

In Japan Pokemon Black and White broke the pre-order record for the series, with more than 1 million advanced orders placed for the game, and the two slightly different packages have managed to move more than 4 million copies in the first month.

Pokemon Black and White were helped by the fact that they are original entries in the series, with new creatures populating the game world and gamers required to go through the game once before meeting old faces.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver, the previous big releases, which were remakes, managed to sell more than 10 million copies soon after launching on Western markets and Black and White could break that record too.

Specialist retail chain GameStop offers a promotional event for long-running fans of the franchise, allowing them to get access to three special Pokemon, one of which can then be imported into the new release.

Nintendo might prepare a similar promotional event for the European market, launched when the official announcement is made.
